Every tooth in my mouth aches.
This is my main thought for most waking moments for the first couple of days after having braces put in, its just silly how crippled one can feel by lack of any biting power whatsoever. For those first few days I mainly lived off of milkshakes, yogurt and oatmeal.
On the first day I helped make some spicy fish stew for lunch, it was fucking delicious from what I would taste of the actual liquid part, I however could not effectively eat it.
On the second day my mom made BBQ Ribs...douche move mom, douche move.
When the sun was ready to make its grand escape behind the mountains, dinner was ready, Steak and chicken fajitas that I could not possible dream of so much as being able to chew enough to make them swallow able.
By the fourth day, I'm pretty damn tired of yogurt, even freezing it to mix things up a little has lost its flair; and then they brought the pig.
To celebrate the successful completion of a difficult job in Hawaii, my dad invited all of his workers to the house for some Carnitas.(Carnitas:n Mexican cuisine, pork or beef chunks simmered in lard and then braised or roasted. Notable for being tender and succulent on the inside and crispy on the outside)
I told myself "I'll be damned if I let some tooth pain and the inability to chew effectively with everything except my 3 back right teeth stop me from eating some fresh killed pork carnitas style.
And so I ate, and my eyes watered and I ate some more.
This helped me "temper" my teeth for harder jobs and have been able to eat more solid foods, I however can still not bite and must resort to cutting it into little pieces that can fit in my mouth.
Braces aren't the worst thing in the world, but they are pretty annoying if you tend to favor a lot of meat in your diet.
I've taken to cooking lunch often now, at least I know I will not be one of those helpless teens that depends on takeout for sustenance when I go out and live on my own.
I recently went out to see Zombieland, it was a great movie, but what made it better is that despite the title, it was not about Zombies, it was about people and that was the best part of all. That and the fact that Columbus plays WoW, you think someone would bother to run the WoW servers during the apocalypse? I like to think somebody would.
