Oh... my... god...

Evil. Fucking evil.

The Blizz forum post confirms all the physco's that are out there.

"Hey Micah, look what i can find in 30 seconds on the internet" - very hypocritical that they'd throw all the blue posters info out there rather than letting it go.

I love the wall that all the "tough guys" hide behind on the internet.

Shemhazaii said it best - that last line is really touching - it's wonderful.

What would you be afraid of saying? Nothing short of obscene personal attacks would even make a reasonable person think of tracking you down in real life (a desire which would doubtlessly subside once the adrenaline has stopped pumping). Combine that with the knowledge that the vast majority people are not psychotic murders, and you're actually quite safe contributing anything worthwhile to the community dialogue.

People constantly hold seminars in real life about very controversial issues, yet they do not seem to be dissuaded against giving their real name and indeed showing up in front of seemingly countless strangers to communicate their opinions. When you communicate over the internet, you do very much the same except that it is far less personal, even when you provide your real name. Most readers will never see your face, or know anything besides what you give them. And if you happen to spark the aggression of one of these exceptionally rare psychopaths, then you can at least rest assured that they most likely live hundreds or even thousands of miles away from you.

This fear seems more like the stereotypical product of fictional television-inspired perspectives on reality, combined with the media's nasty habit of selling you a vastly disproportionate amount of negative events compared to the positive taking place.

Thank you for playing World of Warcraft, and we hope you enjoyed your stay in Azeroth. All credit card information has been removed from the account XXXXXX as of July 7, 2010 1:31:11 PM, so no further billing will be processed on this account unless payment information is manually re-entered.

To anyone interested, it isn't about if it is safe or not it is about the motherfuckers shoving it down peoples throats.

I have to say I too am not comfortable with all my information being accessible by anyone who desires. You do realize that I have a fan club of haters right? With their past actions do you really put it past them to do very retarded things if they knew my full name?

This guy said it best....

Q u o t e:
Yessir.

Micah Whipple, at your service. Like all employees I've also been in every game manual and credit reel since I've been here.
-------------

You are a employee of Blizzard, giving out your name is expected. Every job I've ever had I've given out my real name to strangers. I would greet customers by telling them my first name, on forms I would put my full name. it's part of being a employee working with customers. I've even had my name put in the local paper as a representative of a event my company was helping with (donations and such).

As a customer I do not expect my real name to be used in any way shape or form. I expect my personal information to be kept by the company and NOT given out to anyone.

If blizzard decides to relinquish my personal information starting with my name to people out side of the confines of the company (that means payment and customer servers) I will leave this game.

------------------------------

Forcing us to do this is retarded... I really want to know if this change is going to go back and change our game names to our real names on our OLD posts, or if it's just from when this is implemented... If so, I'll never post in the forums again, if not, I don't know if I will be playing this game either.

Buryit, did you leave a reason as to why you are canceling your subscription in the comment box?
